Development of reusable instruments for the MIT to reduce environmental pollution

The demands made on modern surgical instruments are so manifold that the individual aspects may not be seen in isolation. The instrument must be part of a complete system. The research project should create interfaces and define requirements which help to integrate the instrument optimally in the whole system. The aim of the project is to develop or modify new instruments for minimal invasive therapy so that their inside and outside surfaces

feature a low dirt adhesion and ensure safe and efficient cleaning in connection with a hydrodynamically optimised design. The bio-compatibility of the new types of materials and coatings used must be tested. At the same time, a cleaning method must be optimised and validated. As high as possible a degree of automation of both the cleaning process and the cleaning inspection is to aimed at.

Antimicrobial additives works against a range of different microorganisms bacteria, viruses,
